Barça: like De Jong, Depay flies to London

Like his teammate Frenkie de Jong a little before him, Memphis Depay was spotted at Barcelona airport on Monday. His departure is still relevant and the management of the Catalan club is pushing hard to get rid of the Dutch international.

What if Memphis Depay signed his return to the Premier League? Five and a half years after his departure from Manchester United for Olympique Lyonnais, the FC Barcelona striker would have been probed by the Red Devils about a possible return to the north of England. Barred by XXL competition in Catalonia, the former Gone could be tempted. The beach bar posted a video of Depay at Barcelona airport on Monday while assuring his final destination was none other than London, like his Dutch team-mate. Has the latter planned to meet the leaders of the Mancunian club there to settle the final details of a possible return? Hard to say at this stage according to the Spanish press.

Depay disappointed and resigned

Under contract until June 2023, Memphis Depay has always proclaimed loud and clear his desire to stay in Catalonia. But a year after his free arrival from OL, the titular striker of the Netherlands selection knows perfectly well that he will have a hard time shaking up the hierarchy this season if he decides to bet on stability. This bet would be especially risky three months before the World Cup in Qatar. The Juventus Torino track recently closed for Depay due to Milik signing from the Old Lady in the form of a loan with an option to buy.

Real Sociedad, which has just lost its Swedish striker Alexander Isak (Newcastle), has unsuccessfully surveyed Depay’s entourage. The track leading to Manchester United appears much more attractive in the eyes of the main interested party, whose feeling of revenge has remained intact. Passed by the Red Devils from 2015 to January 2017, the current striker of Barça has not left an unforgettable memory to the supporters of Old Trafford.
