Bad Aibling – The Bad Aibling judoka started at the Südbayernpokal.

The message in its entirety

The Bavarian Judo Association (BJV) organized two tournaments for district selection teams as a replacement for the tournaments “René-de-Smet-Pokal” and “Bayernpokal”, which did not take place this year, namely the Nordbayernpokal and the Südbayernpokal, in which the district selection in the south Upper Bavaria started. In this tournament format, mixed teams of young male and female junior judoka in the age groups U15, U18 and U23 from the eight BJV districts compete against each other.

The southern tournament took place in Peiting. The Upper Bavarian athletes were looked after by the district youth leaders Uwe Henze, Nick Cariss and Hannah Kitzberger, who did an excellent job of hiring the large team. Maxim Weisser from TUS Bad Aibling was there. The 14-year-old competed in the U18s in the weight class up to 50 kg. In the first encounter, Munich, one of the favorites to win the day, prevailed against Niederbayern, no big surprise.

Then the district selection from Upper Bavaria fought against the rivals from Lower Bavaria and won 40:4 with great techniques, a surprisingly clear result. In the second encounter, the winner of the day should then be determined. The Upper Bavarians got off to an excellent start against the Munich team and here, too, the victory was safely brought to the finish line. In the end, after outstanding performances, it was again 40:4 for the Oberbayern, which confidently secured the day’s victory and first place in the Südbayernpokal.

In addition to the OBB coaches, Maxim Weisser was looked after by his older brother Patrick, who came third in the German men’s championship in 2022. Patrick Weisser: “Maxim was in good form and it was surprising that in the first fight Niederbayern couldn’t muster an opponent up to 50 kg. Maxim was also without an opponent in the second fight against the Munich district, so that although he was able to contribute two points to the victories without a fight, he unfortunately remained without a match himself. Whatever the case, I congratulate the Upper Bavarian team on the sovereign victory.”

The next sporting highlight is the Bavarian U18 championship in Abensberg, in which some athletes from TUS Bad Aibling, including Severin Posselt and Maxim Weisser again, will take part.
