“On our wedding night, Nicolas’ mother got angry about something, argued with Nikoloz. He sat down at my table and grabbed my hand from under the table. It hurt me a lot, but emotionally it was even harder. I found out on the wedding day that I had met a completely different person. Five to six months after the wedding, I started to be humiliated, referred to in a derogatory way. This was followed by physical abuse…there was one instance where I lay on the bed after an argument and he poured cold water into my ear with my eyes closed. These acts were of different natures like throwing food at my head… When he had some success, he announced to me that he was the king and that I had to behave like his subordinate. I didn’t have to say I was going to divorce; if he didn’t stop the violence I would go to the police… I think he felt like I couldn’t do it”she said.
