Dortmund game threatens fan chaos
Before the Bundesliga game between BVB and newly promoted Werder Bremen (3.30 p.m here in the live ticker) in Dortmund, many fans will have massive problems when they arrive!
As reported by Deutsche Bahn, Dortmund Central Station was closed on Saturday morning due to a storm. The signal box there failed because there was water ingress, said a railway spokesman. Trains have not been able to enter the station since around 3:30 a.m.
Particularly bitter for the fans: The disruption is expected to last until late in the evening. There are significant delays and disruptions. According to the DB, it is working on setting up replacement traffic. Deutsche Bahn recommends that fans should find out more information online or via the DB app.
Borussia Dortmund relies on the willingness of the fans to help. BVB encouraged the supporters of both clubs via Twitter to help each other via social media and to arrange carpools, for example. “It’s nice to see everyone supporting each other here. Arrive safe and sound! Of course, that also applies to the fans of Werder Bremen,” wrote the black and yellow.
For the Bremen fans it is the second problematic journey to an away game this season. Even before the game at VfL Wolfsburg (2-2) two weeks ago, there was trouble because of the tough police checks on site, and hundreds of Bremen Ultras were not in the stadium afterwards.
Werder is hoping for a lot of support in Dortmund despite the chaos on arrival. The team coached by Ole Werner (34) is still undefeated this season. Nevertheless, the promoted player goes into the game as a clear outsider.
Fit again in good time on the Bremen side: Marvin Ducksch (28): “It looks very, very good.” The striker recently had to miss training due to muscular problems, but nothing stands in the way of his first appearance in his hometown of Dortmund. “For me it will be the highlight game of the season,” said Ducksch.
