Another great game for Quebecer Charles Leblanc, of the Marlins

PHILADELPHIA — Quebecer Charles Leblanc had two hits including a one-run single Wednesday in Philadelphia, where the Marlins were beaten 4-3 by the Phillies.

Leblanc drove in his second career run in the fourth, extending Miami’s lead to 2-0.

Hitting fifth, he pushed home plate JJ Bleday, who had earned his first big league triple.

A 26-year-old Laval resident, Leblanc also hit a single in second, advancing Bleday to second base. Later in the inning, Bleday scored on a Jacob Stallings single.

In 10 major league games, Leblanc stands out with a .429 batting average (15 for 35), including a home run.

He hit the safe in all but one of his meetings, on August 3 (a 0-for-3 game against the Reds in Miami).

Leblanc has four doubles, four runs scored and one stolen base.

Sandy Alcantara (10-5) allowed four runs and eight hits in seven and two-thirds innings.

Andrew Bellatti (3-3) pitched in the eighth inning, while Seranthony Dominguez netted an eighth save.

The series of three matches will conclude on Thursday afternoon.
