7-0. Dominican José Ramírez hits 2 home runs and Guardians beat Padres

Sports Writing, Aug 24 (EFE) .- Dominican third baseman José Ramírez had a perfect afternoon with the bat this Wednesday, in which he fired three hits, including two homers and drove in three runs to lead the attack of the Cleveland Guardians in the 7-0 shutout win over the San Diego Padres.

For Ramírez, this was his third two-homer game of the season, leading the Guardians with 25 home runs.

With his two shots on Wednesday, the 29-year-old star has hit the ball out of the park three times in his last four games.

The native of Baní, in the Dominican Republic, has used his hits to drive in five runs and score two runs in these four commitments.

The input of Ramirez, who has finished in the top six in AL MVP voting in four of the last five seasons, has been instrumental for the Guardians, who have won 13 of their last 16 games.

Ramírez was in charge of opening the board in the first episode, when he punished the left-hander Blake Snell (5-7), sending the ball over the left field wall in the first inning.

The Guardians unleashed a five-run, game-winning rush in the fourth that pretty much put the game away.

In that fourth inning, the star Dominican third baseman terrified Snell again, depositing the ball behind the wall again, without runners on the bases, to extend the advantage (0-2) of the Guardians.

Just behind Ramírez’s home run, his compatriot Oscar González repeated the dose by sending the ball beyond the limits of the field of play, to add the second score (0-3) for the Cleveland team in that fourth act.

Luke Maile drove in the third with a single to left field and the last two on Steven Kwan’s RBI hit to put the Guardians ahead by a six-run margin (0-6),

Ramírez got the Guardians’ last run on the scoreboard, with a sacrifice fly to center field.

the right-handed Cal Quantrill (10-5) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out five batters for the win.

Snell (5-7), who left the mound after allowing six runs in 3 1/3 innings, took the loss for the Padres.

For the Guardians, Ramírez hit three hits in three visits to the plate, adding two home runs, with two runs scored and three RBIs; González hit a home run in four at-bats, scored and drove in one lap; Y Amed Rosario hit an indisputable four times with the wood.

For the Padres, the Dominican Manny Machado and Curaçao Jurickson Profar they went blank in four shifts and the Colombian Jorge Alfaro he missed three times with the bat.
