SC Freiburg II won an eventful third division game against Hallesche FC 2-0. Halle played more than a half with nine players.

SC Freiburg appeared dangerously in front of the opposing goal after just 27 seconds. However, Daniels Ontuzans was unable to convert a pass through Halle’s central defense.

Only four minutes later the next excitement: Freiburg’s Vincent Vermej surpassed Jonas Nietfeld, who only knew how to help himself with an emergency brake. Referee Luca Jürgensen consequently decided on red for the captain of Hallesches FC. As a result, Freiburg dominated the game and could have taken the lead again in the 31st minute through Ontuzans. Two minutes later, Halle’s Sören Reddeman had the chance to take the lead. However, the midfielder hit the post.

Halle weakens twice

Immediately after Reddemann’s bad luck at the post, the Halle team weakened again. Freiburg’s Lars Kehl got away from Niklas Kreuzer and the interim captain only knew how to help himself by holding his jersey. The referee once again decided on the emergency brake and red – a decision worth discussing, because Halle’s Timur Gayret could have intervened. It was 0-0 at the break.

After the change of sides, Freiburg, now with two more men, dominated the game. At times, the Breisgauers besieged the Halle penalty area in handball style and repeatedly came up with dangerous shots (55th minute, 60th, 64th). Nevertheless, it took until the 70th minute before Freiburg rewarded themselves for their efforts. A cross from Ji-Han Lee was straddled by Halles Niklas Landgraf into his own net when trying to save Vermeij. Just three minutes later, Freiburg followed suit: Davino Knappe converted a cross from Julian Guttau to make it 2-0.

As a result, SC Freiburg could have extended their lead significantly, but in the end it remained 2-0. SC Freiburg’s second team is now in second place behind 1860 Munich with seven points from three games.
