Windsurf Adaptive Challenge: five champions at Windsurf Club Vico

Lake Vico – The second stage of the Windsurf Adaptive Challenge, the first windsurfing championship open to all types of disabilities, ended today on Lake Vico. The host was windsurfer Enrico Sulli ‘The Fast Blind Rider’ who hosted four blind athletes at the Windsurf Club Vico.

A light breeze and the calm waters of Lake Vico proved to be the ideal stage for an event aimed not only at more experienced athletes but also at those who have approached this discipline for the first time. The two days of the weekend were dedicated to preparatory training, lessons and starting tests which culminated in a sail that involved all the athletes. In addition to Enrico Sulli, other blind Paralympics were present such as the Piedmontese Matteo Fanchini, athlete of the Italian national team at the Adaptive Surf 2019 European Championships who with Matteo Salandri competed in the Surf Championship in California, Rolly Vasquez who participated in the Italian soccer championships, baseball and athletics from ’90 to 2021 and the Viterbo Dario Ingravallo of Vitersport Libertas, transtibial amputee who reached 45th out of 170 at the World Windsurfing Championship for able-bodied people (Torbole, 23-28 July 2019).

The sail, not valid for the championship score, saw Dario Ingravallo on the first step of the podium, followed by Enrico Sulli while Matteo Fanchini reached third place.

The event benefited from the patronage of the FIV (Italian Sailing Federation), CONI, the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) and the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired Section of Viterbo.

The next appointments of the Windsurf Adaptive Challenge:

Porto Corsini (Ravenna) – Adriatico Wind Club 3-4 September 2022
