“Valmiera” defeats “Metta” in the “Optibet Virsliga” game with an impressive performance

On Sunday, Lūkas Vapne scored two goals in the 22nd round match of the “Optibet” Latvian Football Premier League, helping “Valmiera” to win. “Valmiera” beat the players of “Metta” at home with a score of 6:1 (1:0).

Valmieri had a chance to take the lead already in the ninth minute, but the corner kick was not used, after which the ball ended up in front of the goal.

In the 17th minute, Djibril Gey made it 1:0 for the home team, who after Daisuke Yokota’s pass sent the ball into the “Metta” goal from close range.

On the other hand, in the second half, Lukas Vapne scored his first goal for “Valmiera” in the 51st minute, after a pass from Camilo Mena. Just two minutes after the conceded goal, Bruno Melnis reduced the score difference, who managed to make it 1:2.

Daniels Balodis restored the home team’s two-goal advantage in the 61st minute, but in the 73rd minute, Vapne stood out again, who managed to send the ball into the goal from a very close distance after a pass from Krister Pankevic (4:1).

Shortly after the scored goal, Vapne was replaced, and Artūrs Murza entered the field in his place, who needed a very short time to score the first goal for “Valmiera” (5:1).

In the second minute of the compensatory time, Yokota made a shot at the goal, and the ball, hitting one of the “Metta” players, found its way to the goal, making the result 6:1 in favor of Valmieri.

This season, the teams had already met twice, in the first match in Valmiera, a 1:1 draw was recorded, and in the second match in Riga, the leading team of the championship won 3:0.

Two more matches of the 22nd round will be played today, in which at 18:00 Jānis Skredelas RFS will host “Auda”, and at 20:00 “Riga” will take on “Spartak” of Jūrmala in the “Skonto” stadium. In the first match of the 22nd round on Saturday ” Super Nova” celebrated the first success in the club’s history in the Super League, beating the players of “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” 2:1 at home. The last game of this round, in which the “Liepājas” and “Daugavpils” teams will meet, was postponed to August 4.

“Valmiera” is at the head of the tournament table after 22 games with 56 points, RFS is in second place with 48 points in 21 matches, and “Riga” is third with 44 points in the same matches. Behind the first three is “Liepāja” with 40 points in 20 games, “Auda” has 36 points in 21 games and “Daugavpilij” – 24 points, while the “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” team has 20 points in 22 duels. Jurmala “Spartak” has 14 points in 20 matches, “Metta” has 13 points in 22 matches, while “Super Nova” has eight points in 22 matches.

Ten teams are playing in the 2022 Super League. Last season, RFS triumphed for the first time in the club’s history, Valmiera took second place, and Liepāja won the bronze. Meanwhile, the champion team “Riga” of the previous three seasons took fourth place.

In the “Optibet” Future League season, the first three places were taken by the “Auda”, “Tukums 2000″/TSS and “Super Nova” teams, joining the super league clubs. The games are planned to be held in four rounds from March 11 to November 13.
