TV rights: TF1 exclusive partner of the Blues until 2028

No more alternating custody with M 6, which runs until next September, TF1 will resume broadcasting Blues matches on its own until 2028. The front page announced this Friday evening in a press release. The channel wanted to make a long-term commitment with Kylian Mbappé and his band, aware of the potential of the reigning world champions, who will defend their crown next fall in Qatar.

The agreement concerns all the matches of the French team in qualifications (Euro 2024 and 2028 or World Cup 2026), the entire League of Nations (final phase included) and friendly matches. Major tournaments are subject to other negotiations. TF1 (which must eventually take the majority of M 6) wants to reposition itself as the only “official” broadcaster of the Blues.

Last spring, TF1 and M 6 signed a contract with UEFA for the retransmission of matches played by Didier Deschamps’ players. An agreement which related only to the six League of Nations matches (four in June and two in September against Austria and Denmark) for an amount lower than that practiced previously (2.85 million euros per match or 650 000 euros less). Beyond September 25 and the meeting in Denmark, nothing was planned.

TF1 will make a financial effort to regain its historic place and UEFA and the French Federation will find a price level that corresponds a little more to their aspirations…
