Toledo, capital of para badminton with training, education and inclusion days

This week Toledo becomes the national capital of para-badminton, training and inclusion, with a series of activities that include the now traditional Integration and Para-badminton Conference, training in Para-badminton, Classification and Inclusion, and sessions of the Level Coach Course. 2. These activities take place between the municipal pavilion of Cobisa and the National Hospital for Paraplegics in Toledo and will culminate over the weekend with the third test of the National Parabadminton Circuit.

In this way, the Spanish Badminton Federation redoubles its commitment to a pioneering initiative, since until 2021 this type of activity had never been merged before.

This ‘big week’ of parabadminton and inclusion began with the II Parabadminton Campus organized by the Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA), the Castilla la Mancha Badminton Federation (FEBACAM) and the Toledo Drop Badminton Club, always from the hand of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, the Higher Sports Council, the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board and the Cobisa City Council.

It is a technical conference led by Miguel Ángel Polo, FESBA’s national parabadminton coordinator, along with other regular technicians on the Federation staff such as Dina Abouzeid, and with the participation of Andrea Gutiérrez, project manager for the participation of women, inclusive and social development of the FESBA. These sessions also feature a dozen athletes, including World Cup players Ignacio Fernández, Paco Motero and Cristina Sánchez.

At the same time, starting this Wednesday, a training course for technicians is being held whose objective is to take advantage of the athletes’ presence to improve the quality of training, since training and classification content is combined with practical work.

In the same way, the parabadminton section that is taught in the Level 2 Coach Course has been integrated into these sessions. The students have traveled to Toledo to carry out this activity in a tremendously special location, the National Paraplegic Hospital. , where badminton is a discipline that is carried out for the recovery of patients.

The third aspect that is developed in these days is inclusion, with an introductory course for the integration and insertion of people with disabilities in badminton.

The combination of these activities makes these conferences a pioneering action, as it offers training content in different aspects that had never been developed simultaneously before.

The icing on the cake for this week of parabadminton, training and inclusion will come this weekend, with the third round of the Parabadminton National Circuit, where the best national players will face each other again in a competition that promises strong emotions.
