The Sestao River has already got down to work preparing for the next season. Today in the afternoon the presentation ceremony of the Verdinegro first team before the fans took place, which in turn served as the first contact for the new members. At the moment, the squad is made up of ten footballers who continue from last season and another six signings. In addition to those announced by the club so far, this act has served to learn first-hand about the incorporation of Asier Grande, as well as knowing that Hodei Oleaga and Iñigo San Clemente will be on trial. Likewise, the youthful Javi Moreno -goalkeeper-, Gaizka Hernández -midfielder- and Guillermo Díaz -forward- will also make the preseason.

Asier Grande has been the last of the six signings that the team from Sestaotarra has made official. He is a 20-year-old right back who arrives on loan from Athletic. Trained in the lower categories of Athletic, Danok Bat and Villarreal, among others, the Bilbao-born player in the Third Division with Roda -Villarreal’s agreed club- and Basconia -Athletic’s third team-. Last season, he played on loan at Arenas de Segunda RFEF, playing a total of 27 games -20 as a starter and seven from the bench-. He is the third U23 on the squad along with Ander Blanco -22 years old- and Josu Juste -22-.

In addition, there are two footballers who will be on trial this preseason. One of them is Hodei Oleaga, a tall 25-year-old keeper who last season was part of Gernika in the Second RFEF. He failed to become a starter and only played three games. Despite his youth, he has great experience in the extinct Segunda B due to his time with Bilbao Athletic, Melilla and Barakaldo. He was even summoned by the red and white squad in the First Division up to six times, without making his debut. The other is Iñigo San Clemente, a left back from Bilbao who joined the Villarreal academy seven years ago from Santutxu. Last year he played for the Roda de Tercera RFEF, where he played 22 games and scored one goal.

In this way, Sestao River begins the preseason with 16 players with a first-team record and another two on probation. Taking into account the usual drawing that Aitor Calle used last season and that many footballers can play in various positions, the squad would be as follows: Iván Crespo and Hodei Oleaga in goal; Markel Etxeberria and Asier Grande on the right side; Gaizka Martínez, Ander Blanco and Andoni Ugarte as central defenders; Álvaro Mateo and Iñigo San Clemente as left backs; Aritz Huete, Gorka Garai and Urtzi Urcelay in midfield; Aitor Villar and Asier Goti as right wingers; Iñigo Baqué in the midfielder; Josu Juste and Aitor Aranzabe as left wingers; and Lander Yurrebaso at the point of attack.
