This season for the popular and traditional OCR “Patria race” began in early spring, when on April 10, participants of the obstacle course competed on the Ozolnieki ski track. The continuation followed very soon, that is, after three weeks, on April 30, the second stage was held in Cenu parish of Jelgava region. Now, after a two-month break, the middle of the “Patria race” season will be reached in Liepāja, because on July 10, the third of the five planned stages will take place.
Three years ago, obstacle runners competed in the beautiful streets of Kuldīga, but the prestigious OCR “Patria race” will be held for the first time in the largest city of Kurzeme. In the windy city, the northern part – the territory of Karaosta – has been chosen as the venue for the competition. The competition center will be located near the Beberlini lake and the “Tarzāns” amusement park.
“Forti Patria” association organizes this obstacle race series to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as to create awareness about the sport of obstacle running. “Obstacle running is suitable for every age and fitness level,” says Jānis Avotiņš, founder of “Forti Patria”.
The “Patria race” competition is intended for everyone, as both professional athletes who have gained strength in the world and European championships, as well as obstacle course enthusiasts, compete in it. Therefore, the organizers have created separate Sports and Folk groups, as well as men’s and women’s categories. Among the participants, in addition to the leading domestic athletes, there will also be representatives of other countries, mostly Lithuanians, so the competition has an international status.
The obstacles will be with OCR elements. The participants will run through the area, the length of the track reaching 7km. “Patria race” competition is exciting, so both participants and spectators and fans are welcome.
