The French Elite Championship gets the ball rolling in Riom

It’s a big week ahead for tricolor archery! From July 15 to 24, Riom (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) hosts the French Outdoor Archery Championships. This Friday will mark the start of the competition, which will begin with the French Elite Championship, in parallel with the D1 finals and the French Mixed Doubles Championship.

162 of the best French archers are expected in Riom for the last national round of the outdoor season, organized by the Archers Riomois club.

Who will be crowned French Champion?

In recurve, the competition promises to be fierce, with in particular the presence of a good part of the members of the French team selected for the last stage of the World Cup in Paris. At men’s, Jean-Charles Valladont (Nimes), Pierre Plihon (Nimes) and Baptiste Addis (Manduel, 2nd in the national ranking), not selected for the last stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, will be there in Riom to compete for the title. Romain Fichet (Riom), first in the national ranking, will be on the side of Medellin while Thomas Chirault (Clermont), injured in the shoulder, is forfeited for the competition.

Among women, the Riomoises Caroline Lopez et Audrey Adiceom will be able to covet the national title on the facilities of their club. Their teammate, Lisa Barbelinselected in Medellin, will not participate in the Championship, just like Lauréna Villard (Issy les Moulineaux), French Champion last year in Riom.

In men’s compound bow, Quentin Baraer (Rennes), not selected in Medellin, Pierre-Julien Deloche (Rom) and Fabien Delobelle (Rueil-Malmaison), authors of a great season in D1, will be the archers to follow in the race for the title. Jean-Philippe Boulch, Nicolas Girard and Adrien Gontierthe best French in the world rankings, will also be in Colombia.

In women, Sophie Dodemont (Fontenay-sous-Bois), Lola Grandjean (Saint Avertin) and Sandra Herve (Draveil Sénart) after winning the team bronze medal last month in Paris, will be three serious contenders for the title. Tiphaine Renaudin (Mont Saint Aignan) in great shape throughout the D1 season, will also have a say this weekend.

The French Elite Championship, the D1 finals as well as the mixed doubles will be broadcast this Sunday live on Sports in France. A live stream will also be set up on the Federation’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
