Brazilians Palmeiras from Sao Paulo made it clear in their first appearance at the CEE Cup that they are serious about defending the 2019 trophy. They completely defeated the Mexican Tigres 7:1, and in Sunday’s replay of the last final, they will compete for the first place in the group with Sparta from 15:00 in Strahov.
The stands were full of scouts from leading clubs, there were representatives of Ajax, Marseille, Basel and Manchester United. Brazilian coach Lucas Pereira de Andrade announces that many of his players have great careers ahead of them in adult football as well. And even here in Prague, a chance to show off in Europe. “Against Sparta, we will not have an easy match. Preparing the team for the mental side was difficult for him in the current situation. “Here they can play football in peace, but their dads stayed at home in the war, families are hiding from airstrikes and shelling. I’m glad that people from Ukraine cheered us on, and I wish that even more of them would come in the next few days and forget about the difficult situation at home, at least for a while.”
