French Open finalist Coco Gauff was eliminated in Wimbledon in the third round.
The 18-year-old from the USA lost on Center Court against her compatriot Amanda Anisimova (20) 7: 6 (7: 4), 2: 6, 1: 6. After her success in Paris, Gauff was one of the favorites, in the All England Club she had already reached the round of 16 twice (2019 and 2021).
Anisimova is now there, just like this year at the Australian Open and in Roland Garros. For her second entry into a quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament she would have to defeat Harmony Tan. The world number 115. from France continued her run in her Wimbledon debut after defeating Serena Williams (USA).
