Dominic Thiem missed the hoped-for second semi-final on the ATP tour in a row in Kitzbühel on Thursday. The 28-year-old from Lower Austria had to admit defeat to the German Yannick Hanfmann after 2:29 hours 4:6 6:3 4:6 at the Generali Open, which was endowed with 597,900 euros.
However, Hanfmann is a “height specialist” and was in the final in Gstaad (2017) and here in Kitzbühel (2020). The German will now face either young Austrian Filip Misolic or Serbian Dusan Lajovic on Friday.
