Tennis coach Max Wenders sentenced to 12 years for fixing

The world of tennis was shaken this Wednesday after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) revealed the sanction imposed on Dutch coach Max Wenderswho for match-fixing received a 12-year suspension out of white sport.

Max Wenders is characterized by having been the coach of the American sofia keninwho won the Australian Open in 2020 after beating the Spanish Garbiñe Murguruza.

According to reports from the EFE agency, Wenders admitted to multiple charges of match-fixing, in addition to having destroyed evidence of them in moments of his past and having silenced cases of corruption in the different competitions in which he appeared.

It was also announced that the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) revealed that the case was tried in April 2021 by the agency’s anti-corruption officials.led by Richard McLaren, however, the determination was made public due to allegations from the Dutch coach’s legal team.

In addition to the 12-year ban applied to Max Wenders, the now former Dutch coach will have to pay a $12,000 fine. However, he will not be able to train, play or attend tennis events authorized by the white sport’s governing bodies during the period of time that the sanction will last.
