Sporting cancels the friendly with Lugo scheduled for July 23

Sporting will not play against Lugo in Viveiro on July 23. The Galician team has made a statement informing of the cancellation of this meeting and showing their discomfort for it. “Club Deportivo Lugo censures this unexpected resignation of the rival team, without prior consultation or conversation, citing reasons of an organizational nature,” underlines the Galician team. The date had been the object of disagreement between Sporting and the Federation of Peñas Sportinguistas, which had sent a petition to the club so that on that day, in which the fourth edition of the “Concentración de Peñas” will be held, in Pola de Laviana, the The team will participate in the events, playing one of its friendlies in the Asturian town. The request ended up unattended before the Orlegi Group took control of the club. This is the full statement from Lugo:

“CD Lugo is obliged to inform all its fans and supporters that the game that was scheduled to be held in Viveiro next Saturday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m., will not be played after the rival team refused to travel to the coast of Lugo to meet the commitment agreed at the beginning of June.

CD Lugo has tried, by all means, to find a rival for the aforementioned date, but given the limited room for manoeuvre, and given the impossibility of finding a team against which to play the friendly, it is obliged to definitively communicate the match cancellation.

CD Lugo censures this unexpected resignation of the rival team, without prior consultation or conversation, citing reasons of an organizational nature, and with obvious added problems, both for the normal development of the planned preseason, and for the many fans located in Viveiro, and in the entire area of Mariña Lucense that, now, and due to circumstances completely unrelated to CD Lugo, will not be able to attend the announced meeting”.
