Simon Yates wins stage 2 and overall in the Tour of Castile and Leon

Briton Simon Yates (BikeExchange) won the Tour of Castile and Leon on Thursday by winning the second and final stage in Guijuelo, Spain, solo. Yates, 29, broke away on a climb 20 kilometers from the finish to claim his sixth success of the year, ahead of Australian George Bennett (UAE) and Spaniard Jonathan Lastra (CajaRural). The winner of the Tour of Spain 2018 has a second victory in three days after winning the Ordizia Classic in the Basque Country on Monday.

Simon Yates made his return to competition during this event after his retirement from the Giro during the 17th stage, on May 25, due to a knee injury.
