Siheung City-Korea Institute of Technology expands ‘University Student Network Mentoring Program’

Gyeonggi-do Siheung City (Mayor Lim Byung-taek) announced that it will expand and promote the ‘University Student Network Mentoring Program’, a university cooperation project first implemented last year with Korea University of Engineering (President Park Geon-soo) this year.

The ‘University Student Network Mentoring Program’ is a program in which a college student club mentor in Korea University of Technology and a youth mentee in the district share their concerns and experience various activities together. Last year, 46 college students from six clubs within the Korea Institute of Technology participated in the activity.

This year, 67 college students from the Club Association and 9 clubs (Nanum, Ganji, FEEL, COD, CIR, Team Encer, Wing, San Table Tennis, Dunkis) will participate to form the ‘University Student Network Mentoring Promotion Group’. They plan to actively engage in various activities to promote the program, such as mentoring program planning and activity guidance.

The program we are recruiting for this time is a total of 4 clubs (Wing, San Table Tennis, CIR, Dunkis), ▲ Easy and fun badminton class ▲ Table tennis king Kim Tak-gu ▲ Learn Arduino ▲ Easy and fun basketball class, etc. We are waiting for 36 youth mentees to join us.

Participation in all programs is free, and from September to December, 8 sessions per program will be held at Korea Institute of Technology. Applications can be submitted by e-mail by August 19th or fill out the application form through the QR code on the promotional poster.

Siheung City goes beyond simple exchanges between college student mentors and youth mentees through the ‘University Student Network Mentoring Program’, in which university students directly participate in the project to raise interest in the local community and foster local talent by instilling a sense of serenity and aptitude and career path through experiential learning. It is expected to be a place that provides an environment for exploration and creative growth.

A city official said, “I hope that the city’s talented university students will lead the local youth and give future dream trees a good opportunity to blossom their talents through various experiences, and we will do our best to encourage more mentors and mentees to participate.”
