Sarthe: the whole program of summer entertainment, at the Manoir de la Cour!

In the pretty village ofAsnieres-sur-Vegre (Sarthe)le Court Manor is not a simple medieval building to visit. It is also a place to live et animated !

For the summer season, Mäel Leray (manor house manager) and Delphine de Serre (cultural mediator) have concocted a “beautiful programme”, provided and varied, for all audiences.

Exhibitions

– Summer temporary exhibition

“Medieval Manors of Maine”, dedicated to stately buildings in southern Maine from the 12th to the middle of the 15th century.

The Heritage Association of Asnièreschaired by Hervé Delaune, was associated for the realization of this new 2022 (visible since June 18): “A 100% local creation, which will serve as a basis for our permanent exhibition, dating from 2015”, comments Maël Leray.

The exhibition highlights the stately mansions.

Centers of economic and social power during the Middle Ages, they testify to a rich past. Based on a census carried out from the 90s by a group of researchers, the exhibition presents seigneurial constructions in Maine prior to 1450.

Through the 27 kakemonos, visitors discover the typical portrait of a medieval manor and its evolution over time. The temporary exhibition will be accessible until November 6.

A mediator will introduce you to the specific features of the medieval mansions in southern Maine, built between the 12th and the middle of the 15th century, located around Asnières and often little known.

– Discovery of the mansions on the ground

As part of the temporary exhibition on stately homes in the former province of Maine, set off for an afternoon to discover the medieval mansions of Maine!

This in situ immersion will allow you to project yourself into another era and will address many themes such as the different functions of these buildings, the evolution of architectural elements from the 13th to the 15th century, conservation and restoration work and of course the projects of enhancement of these medieval buildings.

The military camps

– “Medieval Warfare”

15th century military camp to discover Saturday July 30 and Sunday July 31, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of a 15th century war camp! “The public will be able to go back 600 years, in the middle of the Hundred Years War”, announces Maël Leray. And take advantage of the entertainment: archery demonstrations and interactive workshops and participatory sketches (with the Confrérie de la Quintefeuille).

La Maisnie de l’Hermine will reproduce as faithfully as possible the life of a military camp of artillerymen with its craftsmen-combatants, blacksmiths, forge workers or carpenters…

Shooting sessions and the preparation of ammunition with the casting of pellets, black powder and grapeshot will be scheduled during the day. The Hours of Bedford will introduce, on the camp, to calligraphy and will offer a cooking workshop with medieval dishes!

– “At the time of William the Conqueror”

11th century campto discover Saturday, August 13, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, August 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Milites Pagenses are back at the Manoir de la Cour to present a chivalric encampment of a small Breton aristocrat and his 11th century household. On the menu: daily life workshops and combat sketches.

The public will also be able to listen to the musical creations of Cie Nessamelda (chansons de geste).

– Night of stars at the mansion

Thursday, July 21 – two sessions: 10:30 p.m. (family) and midnight (adults).

At nightfall, in the “serene and majestic” setting of the Manoir de La Cour, the public will be able to contemplate the summer sky with astrophotographer Maxime Oudoux.

– Children’s Wednesdays

Like every summer, at the Manoir de La Cour “Wednesday is children’s day”, recalls Delphine de Serre. From July 13 to August 24, workshops and visits are specially adapted for the youngest.

A different workshop will be offered each week: medieval weaving, making tabards, in the footsteps of the builders of the Middle Ages…

“It is then a treasure hunt in the village which is proposed in order to offer a day out of time to the little princesses and knights who will discover the history of the manor and the village while having fun. »
