The CAF awards were presented tonight in the Moroccan capital Rabat. These prizes are awarded by the “Confédération Africaine de Football”.

Sadio Mané, 30, was voted African Player of the Year. He led Senegal to their first ever win at the Africa Cup of Nations in January and was also named Player of the Tournament there.

Senegal has also qualified for the 2022 World Cup, where they will play the opening game against the Netherlands on November 21.

As a club, Mane won the FA Cup and the English League Cup with Liverpool, finished second in the Premier League and played in the Champions League final.

In this transfer period, the Senegalese chose a new adventure at Bayern Munich.

Mané also received the award in 2019, when the trophy was last presented. The 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the coronavirus.
