Raducanu: “I haven’t really had a coach since Miami”

Emma Raducanu, current number 10 in the WTA ranking, is already preparing the last details to start the American tour. Your first stop will be the WTA 250 de Washington, where she debuts on August 1 against Marie Bouzkova, recent champion in Prague. The young British woman, only 19 years old, commented on Media Day on the aspects learned since her triumph at the US Open, in addition to talking about Dmitry Tursunov, her new coach: “Excluding the US Open, the results of last year are not bad for an 18/19 year old. I have to step back and pat myself on the back. This year has been tough, trying to find myself at this level. I’ve skipped almost every step. From playing 25s to racing him Top 10 at the Slams. Still, I managed to win a round or two at the big events. I’m pretty proud of myself in that regard. I’ve learned that I’m very strong. I’ve been beaten every week in front of everyone and I’ve lifted every time. It’s a fun learning experience. I focus on each training session, on a day-to-day basis.”

“Since Miami I don’t really have a coach. It took me a while to settle in. It’s just a trial week here. We’ll see how it goes. I think it’s a great opportunity to work with him. We started last week.”
