Men’s Under-18 European Basketball Championship will start today in Izmir with the participation of 16 countries. 16 teams will compete in 4 groups in the organization where Turkey is in Group B. The organization, which will take place at Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Karşıyaka and Bornova Atatürk Sports Hall, will conclude with the final match on Sunday, August 7th. Turkey, which will take place in Group B with Spain, Germany and Poland in the organization, will play their matches at Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Karşıyaka Sports Hall. The crescent-star team, which will play the group matches at 20.30, will face Poland tomorrow, Spain on July 31, Sunday, and Germany on Monday, August 1st. Group A includes France, Israel, North Macedonia, Great Britain, Group C includes Serbia, Czechia, Greece, Slovenia, Group D includes Lithuania, Croatia, Italy and Montenegro. According to their position in the group, Group A and Group B, Group C and Group D will compete against each other in the last 16 rounds. The winners of the round of 16 will advance to the quarter-finals, and the losers will meet in the classification matches. The teams that will complete the organization in the last 3 places will regress to the B League. The organization, which was hosted by Konya in 2014 and Samsun in 2016, will be played in Turkey for the third time. In the championship, where Turkey won the first place in 2013 and 2014, the crescent-stars won the second place in 2004, 2005, 2015 and 2019, and the third place in 2009 and 2011.
