Nets and Lakers in talks over Westbrook-Irving trade

According to media reports, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets are in talks about a possible trade from Kyrie Irving. In return, Russell Westbrook could go to Brooklyn.

This is reported by Chris Haynes Yahoo Sports. Accordingly, there is “tangible optimism” that both sides can agree, even if there are still “a few hurdles” to be overcome.

There are several points that are still being negotiated. On the one hand, there is how Brooklyn is compensated in the form of picks. The Nets also reportedly want to involve Joe Harris in the deal, the shooter missed most of the season with an ankle injury and is still unfit.

Harris still collects a total of 38.6 million dollars in the next two years. The Lakers, on the other hand, are said to be reluctant and, according to Haynes, would prefer Seth Curry, whose $8.5 million deal expires next summer. The talks are still in the early stages.

The Nets in particular are in no hurry, they are also dealing with a possible trade by Kevin Durant, which half the NBA is said to have asked about. Both Westbrook (47 million) and Irving (36.5 million) withdrew their player options before free agency began, and their contracts expire in the summer of 2023.
