NBA City 2022-23 Jersey Tracking and Other Uniform Changes

The 2022-23 NBA season may still be a long way off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start mentally preparing ourselves by feasting on some new swoon-worthy leads.

First introduced in 2016, the City Edition jerseys are updated every year. While some teams have stuck with the same design for several seasons, others continually change it. Or, if you’re Utah Jazz, you do a bit of both. At least one team (n/a Washington Wizards) has coordinated with its MLB counterpart on aesthetics.

In addition to the much-vaunted City Edition looks, some teams, like the San Antonio Spurs, are rejecting it next season. Cue the Classic Edition jerseys, which pay homage to the franchise’s origins.

Here is an overview of the latest uniform updates as released by the teams.

They wear for their city

Assistants de Washington

For the Wiz Kids, it’s all about cherry blossoms. The Wizards unveiled their tribute to the nation’s capital’s iconic flowers in March, but won’t release their pink alternate uniforms until the 2022-23 season.

The team’s MLB counterpart, the Washington Nationals, revealed a similar set of City Edition uniforms, as the franchises collaborated to create a unified alternate look across all sports. The Nike collaboration marks the first uniform campaign between MLB and NBA teams in the same market.

Hopefully the cherry blossom look bodes better for the Wizards — on Monday, the Nationals were in last place in the NL East (30-58).

Stay classic

San Antonio Spurs

Spurs return to the start. In recent years, Spurs’ City Edition shirts have featured a camouflage pattern and more recently a white canvas with the iconic “fiesta stripe” to the sides based on the team’s popular 1990s warm-ups.

Now, in honor of San Antonio’s 50th season, the team is rolling out Classic Edition uniforms that pay homage to the team’s historic legacy. The look, made popular by Spurs legend George Gervin, features “San Antonio” on a black-on-black jersey chest.

“The Spurs Classic Edition uniform is a symbolic way for us to honor our heritage, our players and our loyalty to the city of San Antonio while giving our fans what they’re asking for – we hear you,” Becky said. Kimbro, vice president of brand engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment.

Old school meets new school

Utah Jazz

New uniforms but make it 90s. The Jazz are changing things up while throwing things back at the same time. Utah has revealed that its primary colors for next season will be black, yellow and white. But the team also announced three purple jerseys, two of which won’t be worn until 2023-24.

The Jazz have asked for help with a video to tease their new purple mountain uniform set which returns for the 2022-23 season. Utah also teased a new purple mountain uniform for the following year, as well as a classic jersey reminiscent of the original Jazz jersey design from when the team first moved to Utah from New Orleans. .

If it seems like the Jazz rolls out a lot of ensembles, that’s because they are.
