Mercato – Ligue 1: Breel Embolo leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach to join Monaco

Breel Embolo is about to discover the French championship. The Swiss international striker from Borussia Mönchengladbach, 25, has signed a four-year contract with Monaco, the Principality club announced on Friday evening. Born in Yaoundé (Cameroon), Embolo began his professional career at the age of 17 in Switzerland, at FC Basel (2014-2016). He then moved to Germany, first at Schalke 04 (2016-2019) then at Borussia Mönchengladbach for three seasons, where he played 88 Bundesliga matches.

Able to evolve in all positions of the attack, Embolo has a great international experience: with the Swiss selection, he played Euro 2016 in France, before continuing with the 2018 World Cup and Euro 1 ‘last summer. He has 56 selections for 9 achievements. “His profile brings an additional asset among our attacking options and adds more depth to the team in order to tackle the busy schedule ahead of us.”explained sporting director Paul Mitchell on the Monegasque club’s website.

“At 25, Breel has won titles and knows the demands of the Champions League.
