Matt Carpenter and Frederick Freeman named Major League Players of the Week

Matt Carpenter of the New York Yankees and Frederick ‘Freddie’ Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers were named Major League Baseball Players of the Week on Monday.

Carpenter, a figure in the American League, was key in guiding the Yankees to a record of three wins and two losses. And he was instrumental in winning the weekend series over the Boston Red Sox by driving in 10 runs.

The 36-year-old third baseman went 6-for-15 and had a .400 batting average, including two doubles and three home runs.

Carpenter scored six runs and drove in 12.

Freddie Freeman excelled in the National League.

The left-handed hitter had an average of .632, with four doubles and two complete return sticks. He stepped to the plate five times and drove in as many runs.

With the help of the 32-year-old, the Dodgers accumulated 4 and one loss in the week.

For Carpenter, this is the fifth time he has won the weekly award, while Freeman has won it twice this year and now has seven in the Major Leagues.
