Mateo’s request that mobilized an entire neighborhood

His name is Mateo, he is 11 years old and lives in the José Hernández neighborhood of our city. In recent days he sat in front of the computer, not to play Fortnite or NBA2K, but to ask them to build a playground and enjoy basketball there with his friends.

Of those stories that move, that come out of the conventional of complaints or just ideas of coffee tables that then remain there, as if nothing had happened. In recent days, a printed letter, then signed in blue handwriting, generated that “I don’t know what” in an entire neighborhood of our city.

Mateo, barely 11 years old, left the “gamer” side that empowers the boys in the present to write a request, a request, a wish to the José Hernández Neighborhood Center.

“Hello, my name is Mateo, I am 11 years old and I live in the José Hernández neighborhood. My greatest wish is to have a playground with basketball hoops to play with my neighborhood peers. We currently play basketball with them at a club and would like to practice in our free time. We have several free spaces where a place to play basketball could be made, for example: in the squares of the neighborhood or in the Neighborhood Center site. I thank you for your attention in receiving my proposal. My greetings”reads the document that he signed below before submitting it.

He took the letter, went to the neighborhood square and there personally found out who the Nathanael’s grandfather (one of his friends), because that’s how he meets the current president of the Neighborhood Center, Héctor Fassetta.

Mateo is a flag bearer at the Primera Junta School.

He left it in his hand and from there began a whole mobilization that promises not to stop until it is achieved. “The truth is that the presentation of the letter moved us on the one hand and mobilized us on the other. Yesterday we were working in one of the squares in our neighborhood when Mateo, along with a small group of boys, approached us and respectfully asked me if I was the president of the Neighborhood Center.”says Hector.

“There he gave us this request and told us that with a group of friends from the neighborhood they always play in the different green spaces, but since they play basketball, he would love to have some hoops of this sport to be able to practice and play in the moments free. That night I discussed it with the other members of the Neighborhood Center’s board of directors and, in addition to being moved by the form of the request and the content of the letter, he promised us to discuss the issue and get to work on the project.”continued counting excitedly.

José Hernández Neighborhood Commission.

“Once we treat it on CD and analyze the possibilities of concretion, we are also going to talk with the Municipality to work on it together, in the same way that we have been doing with other projects that we carry out in our neighborhood. We are always very attentive to the suggestions of the neighbors and honestly it would be very nice to be able to fulfill this special and surely necessary request”Fassetta concluded.

Mateo’s request mobilized an entire neighborhood, now the challenge is written.
