Marina Bassols is apparently hopelessly behind in Budapest and provides the comeback of the year

In the first round of the tournament, the Spaniard, who recently won the two ITF tournaments in Palma del Río and Madrid, will meet the American Bernarda Pera.

Bassols was actually hopeless against Hatouka (WTA No. 208), but the 22-year-old didn’t give up.

In the second set, she fended off three match balls from the Belarusian and secured the round 7:5 despite the seemingly hopeless situation at the beginning.

In the third set, too, Bassols kept the upper hand against Hatouka and finally won 6:4.

Despite her defeat in the subsequent qualifying round against the Hungarian Fanny Stollar (1: 6, 4: 6), the Spaniard now has the chance to prove herself in the main round of a WTA tournament.
