Los Angeles Lakers in trade talks with Indiana Pacers over Buddy Hield

The Los Angeles Lakers already showed interest in Buddy Hield last year, and now there should be renewed negotiations about the shooter.

Like Dave McMenamin (ESPN) reported on NBA Today, the Lakers have entered into negotiations with the Indiana Pacers to discuss a potential trade. “Both teams have resumed talks over the past few days,” McMenamin said.

Last year, the Lakers were interested in Hield, then still in the service of the Sacramento Kings. It was even reported that a deal was nearing completion when Kyle Kiuzma and Montrezl Harrell were supposed to join the KIngs for Hield. However, the Lakers dropped the trade and sent the same package plus Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to Washington to set up a trade for Russell Westbrook.

That Westbrook could now be part of a held trade. According to McMenamin, the Lakers are working flat out to get rid of the guard. A deal with the Brooklyn Nets that could bring Kyrie Irving to LA is deadlocked for now. So the Pacers could be a possible buyer for Westbrook, they have enough cap space to absorb most of Westbrook’s salary (47 million).

In such a trade, Hield would probably be getting $20.5 million next season and still has a contract until 2024. After his trade from Sacramento, the man from the Bahamas averaged 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 26 games and sank 44.7 percent of his throws (36.2 percent three-point rate).
