The Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers have broken off trade negotiations for shooting guard Buddy Hield for now, The Athletic’s Bob Kravitz reported.
Kravitz revealed in his report that the problem arose because Indiana wants two first-round picks in the deal and the Lakers are only offering one.
The trade the Lakers are proposing is Russell Westbrook and a first-round pick for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner, to which the Pacers said no. Indiana believes that by taking on the $47 million contract they deserve another first-round pick.
Indiana believes that as they take on Westbrook’s $47 million contract they deserve a first-round pick and an additional one for giving up Hield and Turner.
Hield is a noted shooter who has won 3-point contests at NBA All-Star Weekend and is averaging 15.9 points per game over six seasons on 88.6% free throw shooting and 39.8% from 3-point range.
Turner, for his part, is one of the best shot blockers in the NBA and is averaging 2.8 blocks per game.
