The intrigue to enter the leading five was intense, everything was decided only in the last round of games. On Saturday, FS “Jelgava” girls were in 6th place in the table, or the first behind the top-5 streak. In the last round, Jelgavnieci faced the highest placed FB “Gulbene”/ZAFC, which also needed points in the last game itself. In the 78th minute of the match, Estere Pikša scored a favorable result for Jelgava, and the game ended with 1:0. FS “Jelgava” earned three points, moved up two positions to 4th place with 14 points.
In the end, the Gulbene team also remained in the top five, as their main competitor SK “Imanta” did not score points in the match with Rēzekne BJSS (1:4). At the end of the first stage, both SK “Imanta” and FB “Gulbene”/ZAFC had 12 points each. In such situations, the higher position in the table is taken by the team with a better balance in the head-to-head games. The match between the two teams was tied 1:1, so the goal difference in all games was viewed as the next additional indicator. Gulbene club was better this time, so it will continue the season in the top five.

It is interesting that SK “Imanta” starts the championship with a streak of six unbeaten games (three wins, three draws), staying at the top of the tournament table for a while, but in the last three rounds matches against the strongest opponents: against Liepāja FS (1:8), against BFC “Daugavpils” (0:8) and in the last round against Rēzekne BJSS (1:4).
The last mentioned teams also won the first three places in the first stage. Liepāja FS, which played in last year’s Women’s Football League, is leading the championship with an impeccable record, retaining most of its players from last season’s squad. The favorite team scored 48 goals in nine matches in the championship, which is an average of 5.3 goals per game. The Rēzekne team is currently in second place with 20 points, while BFC “Daugavpils” has a point less.
The players of the trio of leaders also dominate the list of the best snipers of the championship. Ekaterina Ovsyankina (Rēzekne BJSS) and Signija Šenberga (Liepājas FS) scored 13 goals each, Evelina Freidenfelde (Liepājas FS) frustrated the opposing goalkeepers ten times. Samanta Laškova, Elizabetes Pelses (both Rēzekne BJSS), Anna Propošinas (Liepājas FS) and Diana Skribinas (BFC “Daugavpils”) each have seven accurate shots.
