Golf: Savannah De Bock, 16, becomes European amateur champion and is invited to the British Open

Savannah De Bock, Belgian golf prodigy, won the Ladies Amateur Championship in Paris at the age of 16, the European golf championship for amateurs a few days after her title as Belgian champion. With this victory, she qualified for the women’s British Open.

Savannah DeBock16, became European amateur golf champion on Saturday in Saint-Germain-en-Laye near Paris.

The young golfer from Nivelles won after a play-off on four additional holes with the Englishwoman Charlotte Heath, 20 years. The two golfers had finished their four rounds with a total of 269 shots, at 19 under par.

Belgian amateur champion for the 5th time five days ago, the Royal Waterloo golfer also receives an invitation to participate in the British Open from August 4 to 7 at Muirfield in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland.

Currently 45th in the world in the amateur ranking and first Belgian, she was notably invited to compete in the Solheim Junior Cup last year. She had taken 14th place in the Ladies Open.
