Three lists of athletes drawn up by the Ministry in charge of Sports were established by the decree of April 29, 2002 relating to high-level sport:
- The list of “High-level athletes”, including the categories: “Elite”, “Senior”, “Relève” and “Reconversion”.
- The list of “hopeful” athletes
- The list of athletes from the “National Collectives”
The National Technical Director proposes to the Department of Sports of the Ministry a list of names within the limits of the quotas not to be exceeded (defined by the CNSHN). Registration on the lists is annual and is valid as of November 1 of each year.
The French Badminton Federation has for the 2019-2020 season: 137 sportsmen and women registered on the ministerial lists, which are distributed as follows:
- 53 top athletes
13 ranked “Senior”
8 classified in the “Elite” category
28 classified in the “Upcoming” category
4 in “Reconversion”
- 6 classified in the “National Collectives” category,
- 78 “hopeful” athletes
