The Spanish Badminton Federation has announced the national teams that will represent Spain in two of the most important events this summer at the level of promises, where there will be an outstanding presence from Ibiza. On the one hand, Ramón Rovira and Macarena Izquierdo, together with coach Vicent Martínez as official of the coaching staff, have been summoned as representatives of the Balearic Islands to play the European Olympic Youth badminton, which will take place in the Slovak town of Banska Bystrica from 24 to July 30. Both will form a pair in the mixed doubles and also in the men’s and women’s doubles.
On the other hand, Macarena Izquierdo will be part of the Spanish team, along with her teammates Carmen Jiménez and Ricardo Rettig, who will play the Junior European Championship in Belgrade (Serbia) from August 18 to 27. Izquierdo and Jiménez will try to assert their status as leaders of the European ranking in women’s doubles to qualify for the medals, while Rettig will form a pair with Jiménez in mixed doubles and Galician Rodrigo Sanjurjo in men’s doubles.
