Four failures for Zagreb – Judo Austria

The world tour and the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024 will continue in Zagreb from Friday to Sunday. In Croatia, 700 Olympic qualification points will be awarded for victory. In any case, the starting field is impressive: 530 athletes from 69 nations have entered, above all the two-time Olympic champion Lukas Krpalek (+100/CZE), Olympic champion and world champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili (-73/GEO) and double world champion Jorge Fonseca (-100 /POR). Austria is there with 6 starters. Olympic silver medalist Michaela Polleres (-70/JC Wimpassing/Lower Austria) is number four. Four athletes had to cancel at short notice due to positive COVID-19 tests: Shamil Borchashvili (-81/LZ Multikraft Wels/OÖ), most recently second at the Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar (MGD), Lisa Grabner (-57/JC Wimpassing/Lower Austria), Daniel Leutgeb (-60/LZ Multikraft Wels/Upper Austria) and Aaron Fara (-100/JC Wimpassing/Lower Austria).

Four training days were recently held at the federal base in Linz. The four-strong Australian national team (including Katharina Haecker/-63, Aoife Coughlan/-70) was invited as guests.
