Kahn speaks next Bayern-Basta!
Oliver Kahn (53) ends the striker discussion!
After the 5: 3 in the Supercup against RB Leipzig, the CEO of FC Bayern spoke plainly: The record champions will not bring a world-class center forward to replace Robert Lewandowski (33/for 45 million plus 5 million euros in bonuses to FC Barcelona). The boss ends the discussion as to whether the club still needs a real nine for the top.
Kahn: “There is no discussion!”
The next Bayern Basta from Kahn!
The titan had already said about Lewandowski in “BR” at the championship celebration in May: “He has a contract, he will fulfill it. Basta!” Two months later, the world footballer moved to Barcelona.
Joshua Kimmich (27/new 3rd captain): “Lewy hurts, of course. Because he just scored an incredible number of goals (50 last season; editor’s note). But I think we really have a lot of good new guys.”
That’s why Bayern played against Leipzig in the new 4-2-2-2 system with two strikers: Sadio Mané (30) and Serge Gnabry (26).
Kahn likes the new flexibility in attack: “That was strong! You could see how many opportunities we had going forward. How many different formations we had, how surprising we can be. How many good footballers are there. How much speed we can bring into the game with many, many extremely fast players.”
No new Lewandowski – but more unpredictability and center forward on the bench!
The board boss adds: “It’s the case that we still have options in the current team – Zirkzee is there, Choupo-Moting is there, then the young Mathys Tel, who is training incredibly well at the moment. We would also have opportunities there.”
Mathys Tel (17) was not yet eligible to play in Leipzig. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (33) has been missing for weeks with hip and groin problems. Joshua Zirkzee (21) was on the bench for 90 minutes. The flexi strikers like Mané or Gnabry should do it up front!
Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic (45): “You could see that we are extremely dangerous, that we have many fast and dangerous players. That’s the idea! Of course it’s a different way of playing. If the boys do what we envision, I think we can spread the goals on many shoulders.”
Brazzo also emphasizes that there will be no more new nines: “The transfer market runs until August 31st. But usually we have completed our planning by then!”
