In the semi-finals, the German women beat the French women’s football team 2:1. Aleksandra Popa scored both goals for the winners, leading the team twice.

Popa opened the scoring in the 40th minute after a cross, but in the 76th minute he again gave Germany a one-goal advantage. The French national team scored the only goal in the 44th minute, when the ball sent by Kadidiatus Diani hit the post and bounced off the German goalkeeper Merle Froms into the goal.

It has already been announced that the English women secured their place in the final with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Swedish national team.

The tournament will conclude with the final on Sunday 31 July at Wembley Stadium in London, which is expected to be the biggest crowd for a European football championship game, men’s or women’s. The stadium has 87,200 seats, but all tickets are already sold out. The decisive game in the fight for the title can be seen live on LTV7 and replay.lv.

The European Women’s Championship has been held since 1984, and German (or West German) soccer players have won eight of the 12 tournaments so far.
