Ex-Genk defender Kalidou Koulibaly decorates top transfer to Chelsea | Premier League

Kalidou Koulibaly has to fill in the defensive gap at Chelsea that leavers Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid) and Andreas Christensen (FC Barcelona) left.

The 31-year-old defender has played football for Napoli since 2014, before that he played for Racing Genk for two years. In Serie A, he developed into one of the best central defenders in the world.

Koulibaly had a contract with Napoli that was due to expire next summer. Chelsea would pay another 40 million euros for the Senegalese international.

“I am very happy to be here,” Koulibaly says in a first reaction. “Chelsea is a great team and it has always been my dream to play in the Premier League.”

“Chelsea came to see me for the first time in 2016, but we couldn’t figure it out. Now they were back and I accepted their offer because I really wanted to play for them in the Premier League. My good friends Edou (Mendy , red) and Jorginho (ex-Napoli, red) made the choice easier for me.”
