Enric Mas left the Tour de France this Friday after testing positive for coronarivus, which prevented him from starting in the nineteenth stage of the Grand Boucle. For the Balearic cyclist this edition of the Tour has been a nightmare, after saying goodbye to all his podium options in the Col du Granon stage and suffering in the three stages of the Pyrenees. In addition, Mas did not hide his fears in the descents of the current route.

Enric Mas acknowledged his fear on the descents on Thursday. “Since the fall of Dauphiné I have an internal fear that is difficult for me to overcome, and I dragged it throughout the Tour,” he lamented.
Looking ahead to La Vuelta (August 19 to September 11), in which he will also attend Movistar, he hopes to improve in this regard. “Muscularly you stiffen in situations like this… but they are cycles. We are going to hope that for La Vuelta all this issue is resolved. We have to go through this apprenticeship, this moment, accept it », he emphasizes.
He entered the finish line in 19th place, 7:23 behind Vingegarad, and is 11th overall, 24:08 behind the Dane. “The important thing now is to face my situation and little by little, think about the rivals ahead of us and to get back on top,” he concludes in Hautacam.
