  • Ylena In-Albon (WTA 121), who was defeated by German Jule Niemeier (WTA 109) 5: 7, 7: 6 (7: 3), 3: 6, was eliminated.

Susan Bandecchi achieved a great victory at the WTA tournament in Lausanne – the first at the highest level. At the start of the clay court tournament on Lake Geneva, the woman from Ticino prevailed in two sets against Océane Dodin, who was 151 places higher in the WTA ranking. The wild card holder, who won the doubles title together with Simona Waltert in Lausanne last year, only gave the French three games in 1:07 hours.

Bandecchi was never in serious danger of losing control of the game on the way to her maiden victory. She never gave up her own service. On the other hand, Dodin didn’t have her best day, which was also reflected in her 12 double faults.
