Jon Rahm succumbs to his irregularity

Jon Rahm signed the surrender yesterday at the Scottish Open in which he has not been able to find regularity in his game. The Renaissance Club has not forgiven and has punished the mistakes of the barrikoztarra, which have been many, especially from the tee, and has little rewarded the streaks of good play of the number 3 in the world. With his return from four over par yesterday, he fell to 53rd place on a day of movement in which the leading positions turned upside down.

Leader Cameron Tringale failed with a card of four over par while Xander Schauffele rocketed to the last two holes where two separate bogeys prevented his advantage from being greater. Behind him is Rafa Cabrera Bello, from the Canary Islands, who, back in the places of privilege, will fight for at least one of the three places that the Scottish Open grants for The Open next week.

The round started badly for Rahm, with two consecutive bogeys like Friday. But he rallied quickly and with great approach shots and putts put his count at one under par on the 8th hole with three birdies in five holes. It was time to push, but the opposite happened and his aspirations fell apart halfway through the course.

On 9 he made three putts and came out angry because some spectator said something to him when he was shooting to save par. At 10, a par 5, disaster struck. His tee shot went too far off the fairway to an almost unplayable area and from there his next two hits took the ball to bunkers. The end result was a double bogey, the second of the week, which took Jon Rahm out of focus and he was no longer able to change the dynamic on the final holes. His objective today will be to try to sign a good lap and recover the sensations for next week, an appointment that everyone in Scotland has between eyebrows.

For his part, the San Sebastian Adrian Otaegui was brilliant with two under par and reached 28th place with a cumulative +1, far, however, from the places that lead to The Open.
