Mega penalty after the pyro shame of Dresden. Second division relegated Dynamo Dresden has to pay a fine of 300,000 euros because fans threw fireworks off the field during the relegation second leg against Kaiserslautern. The DFB sports court imposed this verdict on Monday!
Managing Director Jürgen Wehlend: “This judgment hits us very, very hard in a time that is already economically difficult – also due to the sporting relegation to the second division. It represents a deep turning point for us.”
In the approximately three-hour negotiation, it was at least possible to prevent the K block from being blocked.
“From our point of view, that would be the wrong sign,” says Wehlend. “It is all the more important that we continue the internal review and the close dialogue with all parties involved in order to achieve the necessary rethinking. The many words must now be followed by deeds.”
In addition to what happened in Dresden’s Rudolf Harbig Stadium on May 24, the DFB also punished what happened during the second division game against Schalke 04 (April 1) and the relegation first leg in Kaiserslautern (May 20).
After the zero number in the first leg in Kaiserlauten, the Saxons lost the second leg in front of their home crowd with 0:2 and thus got relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga. Shortly before the final whistle of the game, when the fall into the 3rd division could no longer be avoided, firecrackers flew out of the K-Block onto the lawn and firecrackers banged onto the pitch.
Referee Siebert interrupted the game, but left both teams on the field. There were still three minutes of stoppage time to play. After a seven-minute break, he whistled the game again and ended it properly.
Thorsten Kinhöfer (53), referee expert at BILD am SONNTAG after the game in May: “Siebert did everything right. He had two options: Cancel, then there could have been a sports court hearing, or go through the stoppage time.
About an hour after the final whistle, a smaller group of Dresden spectators entered the stadium area and made it into the changing rooms and the team bus. Two officers were slightly injured.

During the relegation first leg in Kaiserslautern, 30 pyrotechnic objects were detonated.
Shortly before the game against Schalke 04 (1:2) kicked off, at least 200 Bengali torches and flashers burned down in the Dresden stadium, and 20 rockets flew into the air.
In addition, in the 84th minute, spectators threw at least ten objects such as lighters and pens in the direction of an opposing player. All of this was included in the verdict, leading to the tough punishment.
The club can use 100,000 euros of the fine for security or violence prevention measures. This would have to be proven to the association by the end of the year.
Dynamo is now awaiting written service of the judgment and then has one week to agree to the judgment or to appeal.
