Double strength leads the teams of TC GW Herzberg to victory

Both the ladies 50 and the men make the team success perfect in their tennis point games in the doubles games.

Before the summer holidays, a number of league teams were in action at TC Grün-Weiß Herzberg. In addition to the women’s 50 and men’s teams, the youth teams also played in their last games of the series.

The ladies 50 traveled to Hedemünden for the third league game and brought home a 4:2 victory. Again only two individual victories could be realized. Doreen Pralle won the first set in the tie-break and then made the match clear in the second set 6:1. Ute Koch-Grotheer’s game was a little tighter. After equalizing the set, she won the match tie-break with 10:6. The exciting match tie-break in Heike Gertig’s game went extremely narrowly to the hostess at 10:12 after a clear lead. In first place, Heike Bartels couldn’t find a way to score points against her opponent despite the highest effort – the doubles started with a 2:2 lead.

The tactically clever line-up then turned out to be a good decision. Safe and almost flawless, Bartels/Gertig scored 6:2, 6:1 in the first double. The duel between Pralle and Koch-Grotheer was characterized by many long games over the debut. But with 6:3, 6:4 the women from Herzberg prevailed and ensured the overall victory. The team is now second in the district league. Relegation is not in danger, although there is still a postponed game in August.


Men win just in Münden

Last Sunday, the men’s team of TC Herzberg traveled to the Münden tennis club in the three-river city and was able to win a narrow victory in an extremely competitive point game. With the line-up of Jan Weißberg, Jan Wehmeyer, Fynn Wehmeyer and Paul Böttcher, the individual started. Jan Wehmeyer narrowly won his singles with 3:6, 6:4, 10:8, while Paul Böttcher was successful in two sets with 7:5 and 6:2. Fynn Wehmeyer and Jan Weißberg had to admit defeat in their singles, so that it was 2:2 after the singles.

Everything was at stake in the doubles, the Herzbergers went for a win in the combinations with risk and both doubles were strong. Jan and Fynn Wehmeyer played the first doubles and were able to prevail there in hard-fought games 6:1, 4:6 and 10:3 Jan Weißberg/Paul Böttcher also had to fight in their doubles, but were also able to win 6:4, 6 :4 achieve victory. This sealed the 4:2 success of the Herzberg men.

The B-Juniors received the TSC Göttingen II at their home facility and offered exciting competitions. Malek Darbas lost the first set 5:7 in the top individual, but was able to prevail in the second set 7:6. In the match tie-break, his opponent kept more calm and won it 5:10. Finn Lodewick was also at a disadvantage in the first set (3:6), then clearly won the second set 6:2, so that the match tiebreak had to bring the decision here as well. Here the opponents fought a head-to-head race, which was finally decided 12:14 in favor of the opponent. In doubles, Finn Lodewick/Ben Schweser served easily and scored a 6:3, 6:3 that was never in danger. However, the game as a whole was lost 1:2.

Midcourt boys win

The boys of the mid-court team hosted the TV Sösetal-Förste. Karim Darbas clearly won his singles 6:0, 6:2. Elias Schmidt was also able to convince at 6:1, 6:4. The point in the doubles went to the guests, so that in the end a 2:1 victory came out for the Herzberger boys.

So far unbeaten, the female midcourt team traveled to TC Gieboldehausen and lost for the first time this season. Ira Bridge clearly lost 1:6, 0:6. Mia Kerl was still able to open the first set (5:7), but lost 0:6 in the second. Ira Brücke/Sophia Schweser competed in doubles and had no chance in the first set at 0:6. In the second set, the women from Herzberg came into play better, but still lost almost 6:7. The youngsters ended their second season with a very pleasing second place in the table.

Already last weekend, the B-Juniors made clear the relay victory at the Göttinger TC. Alina Marwede had no trouble and won her singles 6:1, 6:1. Marisa Gries won set one 6:4 and set two 6:2. Carefree, the two competed in doubles and also won this duel 6:2, 6:4, so that they could start their journey home with a 3:0 victory.
