City lose to Liverpool, this is Guardiola’s brief explanation

Manchester City lost 1-3 to Liverpool in the Community Shield. City manager Pep Guardiola gave a brief explanation of why his team lost.

Even the Reds appeared fierce, after being inconsistent in pre-season. For Manchester City, the defeat was an alarm that next season they could have difficulty defending the Premier League title.

“Congratulations to Liverpool,” he said.

Pep Guardiola gives an explanation about his team’s defeat. For him, Manchester City had played well but Salah et al’s counter-attack and a penalty, ruined everything.

“In the first 15-20 minutes, their pace was better. Then 20-25 minutes later, we compensated. We also started the second half well and full of confidence,” he explained.

“Even in the first half, we created dangerous chances. Then it was clear they made the transition quickly and won a penalty. Then it was more difficult.”
