Cancellation of Mbappé’s contract at PSG: La Liga requests rejected on form, substance studied later

The thing had been expected since Kylian Mbappé’s contract extension at PSG, which largely remained across the throat on the other side of the Pyrenees… The Spanish Football League (LaLiga) has requested the termination of the striker’s contract. Blues with Paris Saint-Germain before the Administrative Court (TA) of Paris. La Liga also requests the cancellation of the validation of the club’s accounts by the National Directorate of Control and Management (DNCG).

These two requests were rejected on the same day for lack of urgency and will be examined on the merits within a longer period. “We expected it, explained to AFP Juan Branco, the very media and activist lawyer Franco-Spanish of La Liga. It was a technical appeal, what matters is the judgment on the merits”. According to him, he may not intervene before the end of the 2022-2023 season.

“Our steps at the French level are facing heavy resistance, they are only a first step before seizing the European courts, within a few months”, adds Mr. Branco. La Liga asked the administrative court “to cancel the administrative decisions” of the approval of Mbappé’s contract by the Professional Football League (LFP) as well as “the refusal” of the DNCG “to take measures with regard to of PSG”, decision dating back to June 21, 2021.

According to Me Branco, PSG did not respect the “criteria and indicators provided for by the regulations of the LFP and the DNCG as well as those enacted by UEFA” through the rules of financial fair play. According to him, this “generated significant and direct damage against the applicant, La Liga”.

He criticizes the PSG for having presented “false balance sheets, deliberately fanciful provisional budgets” and for having “made up (é) the system of + related parties + implemented with sponsors depending directly on the Qatari entity ” , such as the country’s tourist office.

“This situation structurally affects the possibility of fair and undistorted competition within the internal market of the European Union (…) and the principles of sporting fairness”, explains the lawyer again.

This is the first step in the strategy of La Liga and its lawyer towards PSG, as Juan Branco announced on June 17 during a press conference in Paris, providing for “graduated procedures” aimed at the PSG.
