Canadian swimmer: ‘I was given drugs on the final night of the World Cup’

The World Cup was held from June 18 to 25. Harvey won bronze there with the relay swimmers in the 4×200 meters and wanted to celebrate. “But I didn’t go crazy because I want to perform at the Commonwealth Games again.”

‘Hole in memory’

During that party, Harvey was drugged, she now says. “I did not knowingly take drugs. I have a gap in my memory from four to six hours,” the swimmer writes on her social media.

She also shares photos of various injuries on her body.

“Unfortunately, things like this happen more than we think. More and more cases have been reported over the years, but it’s still not talked about enough,” Harvey continues in her post.

‘Be careful’

“To anyone reading this, be careful. I thought I was safe, that it would never happen to me, especially when I’m surrounded by friends. In a way I’m still ashamed of what happened and I think that it always will be. But I’m not going to let this event define my whole life.”
