Bronze for Latvian ladies in the EC BMX team “time trial” competition – Cycling – Sportacentrs.com

• In “time trial” competitions, each country is represented by three elite, U23 or junior group athletes. All three team members start at the same time, with the time of the slowest driver as the final result.

• Competed as part of the Latvian women’s team Vineta Pētersone, Veronika Stūriška and Līva Glazer, the final result of which was Glazer’s time – 39.251 seconds. At the finish, it gave the third position, behind the trio of Belgian and French riders, but ahead of the Spanish women.

• Yesterday, in the individual competition, state champion Pētersone won fourth place in the elite competition, while in the junior group, Stūriška and Glazere reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.

• The French team also triumphed in the men’s “time trial” discipline, ahead of Italy and Germany. The Latvian trio (Mārtiņš Zadraks, Edvards Glazers, Mārtiņš Treimanis) failed to enter the final.

• Became the European champion in the group of 12-year-old girls Melanie Chudar, but Ralfs Ratnieks made it to the finals in the group of boys of the same age, who placed sixth. Three finalists for Latvia also among 13-year-old drivers – Lote Etmane (4th place), Markus Soļims (5th place) and Valts Budigins (8th place).

• Roberts Treimanis won the fifth place in the 30-34 age group in the amateur class, while Kristaps Vekša finished fifth among the 25-29-year-old riders.

• Mārtiņš Zadraks won the second place in the junior group at the European Championship yesterday.
